Non-profit organizations are committed to serving and improving the local community, but marketing is often a major challenge. To help support their missions, the Zimmer Cares program provides free marketing services to one non-profit organization each quarter that was selected by Four States listeners. This allows the organizations, which often struggle to get their message out, to benefit from the power of the radio group's reach and advertising skill. Such a boost can make it easier for a non-profit to reach a larger group of listeners and increase community awareness.
Recipients are nominated by listeners. Past recipients have included programs that work with foster kids, homeless populations, and children in crisis situations.
Meet the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Missouri
The most recent winner of our 2019 Zimmer Cares campaign was the Boys & Girls Club of Southwest Missouri.
The BGCSWMO has been serving youth of the Joplin-area community for more than 60 years. It provides programs and support for about 1,000 children annually, representing a wide variety of racial and economic groups in the region.
With a general message of “a safe place to learn and grow,” the services of the Boys and Girls Club focus on everything from providing social needs to networking opportunities to tutoring and mentorship opportunities.
The program focuses on developing five program areas:
- Character and leadership development
- Education and career development
- Health and life skills
- The arts
- Sports, fitness and recreation
Adult volunteers throughout community enjoy the opportunity to work with youth positively, and the youth appreciate their involvement as well. All program participants receive an evening meal during the school year, as well as breakfast, lunch and snacks during summer. This ensures they have at least one nutritious meal a day, which helps their bodies grow and fuels their minds and bodies.
The club also hopes to keep kids off the streets and helps them stay in school. A positive environment can also reduce the risk of substance use or teen pregnancy.
This club also offers an after-school program during the school year along with an all-day summer program, which includes field trips and social activities. Transportation to the center is also provided to and from nearby schools.
The Boys and Girls Club is open to all youth in the community, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
Everybody wins
Zimmer Cares is excited to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Missouri educate the community about the exciting things taking place here.
Through radio advertising, this non-profit will receive a substantial boost in being able to spread the word about its ongoing mission, and make it easier for its staff to do anything from inviting more youth to take part, to recruiting more volunteers. It’s also a perfect opportunity for donors and sponsors to know that their support directly benefits members of their local community, and for new supporters to come forward.
